The Urban River Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to promote the value of education, for at-risk high school age youth, through the art of fly fishing.
The Art of Fly Fishing is the primary vehicle of our program, along with any other associated fly fishing topics. The impact of the program may simply evolve within the intrinsic value of catching a fish on a fly rod and/or the journey in trying to do so.
Our objective is to establish a positive social environment that creates opportunities for discovery and growth that our students might not find elsewhere.
We are an out-of-school time program that is focused on youth development. We strive to enhance academic achievement by providing positive social and emotional youth development via relationships with peers, adults, community, and of course new perspectives through fly fishing.
