Fly Fishing for Diplomas and Community

Home

The Urban River Society is a non-profit organization supporting communities of color and the education of our youth through the Art of Fly Fishing.

We want to bring BIPOC communities together to learn about fly fishing and the benefits of shared experiences in and around the water available to you.  Often times our communities of color may not be comfortable claiming space in the wilderness.  Learning about fly fishing equipment, casting, knots, fish habitat, conservation, and safety within a positive supportive environment in our community will bolster representation and readiness for people of color to claim space in the outdoors and create new perspectives.

Whether catching a fish on a fly, or enjoying the journey in trying to do so, this is an opportunity to come together and share a passion for community, conservation, identity, the great outdoors, and the value of education for our youth.
